Stretching from the Sea of Ghosts through the Wrothgarian Mountains to the Eltheric Ocean, the Kingdom of Northpoint and the Upper Wrothgarians, as it's now known, is one of the largest kingdoms in High Rock. The Northern Hinterlands[]

Once called the Rivenspire, the northern hinterlands are a land of rolling green hills and woodlands, filled with countless flocks of sheep and cows, and hundreds of small farms. Notable locations include the Loch Camrer and the rivers that spring from it, and the Whittam Forest that surrounds that river valley. To the south of Northpoint city is the Wolfspaw Bay, so named for the paw-shaped island in its center, upon which sits the Rocks of Calhar, an ancient stone henge from time immemorial. The region is oceanic and temperate - cooler than its Iliac rivals, but not frozen like regions further east.  Winters are generally mild, rarely snowy but still often wet, and summers are generally cool, though often frequently wet as well. Between the sea and the mountain runoff, the land is relentlessly green, and with the mountains looming visibly from almost every point in the kingdom, the region has produced some of the best pastoral paintings and poetry in High Rock.

Places of Note[]

Northpoint Proper: The city itself.

Old Seaguard – the ancestral estate of the Caron family, a massively sprawling fortress on the entrance to the Camrer river valley. A stark contrast to the Seastone Keep, Old Seaguard is gaudy in its excess – spiraling towers, many of which are in disuse, works of art built into the floor and into the windows, gardens and hedge mazes, and, of course, it’s pure sprawl. King Daric has never visited, but Elissa was fostered here in her very early youth. If Northpoint is a kingdom defined by an inferiority complex regarding its neighbors across the Wrothgarians and on the Iliac, Old Seaguard is the most apparent example in its hinterlands. Built in the late Second Era by famed Daggerfallian architect Perie Munrowe, the fortress is a sprawling chateau built in an imitation of the styles of that time, down to the towering spires, spiraling staircases, inlaid artwork, and magically enhanced stain glass windows. Almost a city unto itself, the fortress fell into disuse gradually over the years, tower by tower – today only the most central chambers remain in use as a palace for the Carons of Northpoint, and these have undergone extensive renovations over the years to reflect changing fashions and pride in distinct Northern architectural and artistic styles. Old Seaguard houses the Royal Crypt of Northpoint where the royal family is traditionally buried.

Normar Heights – A prosperous mining town in the highlands of Northpoint, sitting along the old Imperial Highway. Known for its silver in particular. Ruled by the Lord Wickhart.

Faith’s Leap – A quaint fishing village on the Wolfspaw Bay that spread around one of Northpoint’s most opulent castles, named the same, which sits on a towering sheer cliff face over the village, overlooking the bay.

Riverton -  A bustling logging and fishing town in the Camrer river valley, in the shade of Mt. Ogrim, just a handful of miles away from Old Gate. Ruled by the Lady Leoriane from the Grand Riverfork Villa.

Millton – a modest hamlet just outside of Northpoint Proper; the Coppertine Estate and Apiary is just outside of the village and trade from the family’s businesses provides no small amount of the village’s work.

Lenly – “Lenly on the Crossroads,” as it’s more commonly called, is nothing more than a glorified trading post, where travelers stop on the road to Northpoint (staying in The Freckled Goose or The Siren ‘n the Willow Tree) or smaller farmers congregate to sell goods or livestock in the Goosemarket.
